Vestavia Civitans include a group of young professionals and we meet once per month at the Vestavia Room at the CivicCenter for lunch. The room is located behind the Chamber Office and below the Dogwood Room. Members meet for lunch, networking and a guest speaker. We also have service and fundraising projects throughout the year. Our club sponsors bingo for the residents at Chateau Vestavia Assisted Living twice a year and puts on a Garage Sale and Canned food drive during the year. In the Spring, we help other Civitan Clubs in having a Clean up Day for the Cahaba River! Vestavia Civitans present: Merlin & the Court Jesters! Our premier event to date has been to sponsor the magic show, Merlin & the Court Jesters! This is a travelling troup of magicians, and all performers have a mental or physical disability. The show is performed before the special education students from across the area including as far away as Trussville and Sylacauga. The performace is a Las Vegas style event with props, backdrops, and a professional script with lots of drama and suspense! Afterwards, lunch is served and an in-service training session is offered to professionals who work with special education students and adults. It is free to the public. |
