On January 6, 2010, despite the cold temperatures and windy conditions, our Club was excited to have Dr. Susan Campbell, PHD as our guest speaker. Dr. Campbell is a researcher at the Civitan International Research Center (CIRC) at UAB. She hails from Jaimaca by way of New York. Dr. Campbell's presentation on "Autism" was very informative. She discussed the RETT disease, which most of our members were unfamilar with. But it is one of the many mental disabilities being being researched at the CIRC/UAB with the help of various Civitan International Club fundraisers. Dr. Campbell's wealth of expertise and her presentation made the audience appreciate all of the hardwork associated with helping persons with various disabilities at CIRC/UAB.. |
